Tanzania's mineral wealth borders on the fabulous: Apart from Gold, Diamond and Gemstones, Tanzania has abundant mineral reserves of Nickel, Kaolin, Titanium, Cobalt and Platinum, and even Salt.

Nyanza Salt Mines are located in the catchment area of the River Malagarasi near Lake Tanganyika, in the Kigoma Region. The Brine (dissolved salt) reserves are of Magmatic origins; formed by dissolving the deep salt concentrations and volcanic waters mixing with fresh water streams.

The Company converts the Brine to Salt by two methods: Thermal Salt (Fine Salt) and Solar Salt (coarse Salt). The production capacity of 60,000 tons per annum of which 24,000 tons are produced by Thermal process.

The company's new plant produces refined salts for domestic and export use. The Plant location which is almost in the middle of the African Landmass affords a major cost advantage to the near land-locked countries and regions. Today, 85% of the production is exported to Congo, Burundi and Rwanda. The Company provides medical and educational facilities as well as Power and Water supplies to the nearby communities.
